May 15th 2007 meeting

Hi All,

We had a very productive May meeting!

This meeting served as the one-year anniversary of the Upriver Girls. The group presented Mandy with a braided runner (colors chosen by Mandy, construction by group members, especially Sandra and Gayle) with our thanks for her support and hospitality.

Thanks to everyone at the meeting who helped finish up the hospital dolls. Sandra and Eddie will be delivering them to Chalmers Hospital -- anyone wishing to be part of that trip should contact them.

Eddie set up her oval quilt frame with a lap quilt to provide an opportunity for novice quilters to practice quilting on a frame. She quilted alongside a beginner (me) and offered great on-the-spot advice. Hopefully this will be an ongoing activity --

The next meeting is Tuesday, June 19th at 7:00 PM at the Gallery. Please get the word out to those who don't have email....

At the June meeting, Marja asks if volunteers can help her copy the signatures from the 1914 Florenceville signature quilt. This will make it easier for her to research the names, and a list can be circulated in the community to learn more about the people whose names appear on the quilt.

If anyone has ideas about special activities for the summer meetings, please share them at the next meeting. Bring snacks! (Snacks at the May meeting were outstanding!)

If I've forgotten anything, please email the group -- See you in June!
