Hi Everyone,

The June meeting was small (5 people) but fun.

Marja and Jackie chose fabric for a rag crib quilt for the group's Fall Festival scarecrow (it will be a baby in a cradle) and Marja stitched it up at the meeting. The quilt was quite impressive.

Hazel told us about the Country Farm Fabrics quilt shop in Caribou, and Jackie suggested that the group might take a field trip over to visit the shop. I spoke to Sheila, the owner, and she asked that we let her know when we set a date -- if we came during the last two weeks in July, she would arrange for someone to be there since she'll be out of town during that time.

Is there interest in making this trip a "shop hop" and going to the Presque Isle Marden's, the Caribou shop, and the Madawaska Marden's (about 50 minutes from Caribou)??

We talked a lot at Tuesday's meeting about the group's contribution to the upcoming Fall Festival. It was decided not to do a quilt show this year, but to wait a few years between shows (so that people wouldn't be showing, and seeing, the same quilts year after year.).

There will be a Market like last year and the Group can again have a table. Does anyone want to oversee this?

Members who have sale-able items -- quilted (or other crafted) items, quilt or craft books, maybe high-end garage sale items, other??? please let the group know by email or at the July meeting.

Hopefully, Marja will bring her quilted postcards again; those were big sellers last year ....

There was talk of raffling off a quilt at the Festival Market/the Festival at large/the community in order to earn money for the group.

Does anyone have a nice quilt that they would like to donate for this purpose (or does anyone want to whip one up)???

Mandy introduced the idea of a "quilt house" at the Festival. This is still in the planning stages. If anyone has older quilts that can be used in the house's construction, please email, or let Mandy know.

There's an informal meeting planned for Wednesday, July 20th at 10:00 AM at the Gallery to plan the Group's contribution to the Festival.. Please email if you'd like to come and this is an inconvenient time.

Please note: the July meeting will be JULY10th (the SECOND Tuesday rather than the third) to accommodate activities at the Gallery.
